The other is the slick magnetic system that makes transitioning from productivity to tablet just a quick grab away. One of which is pass-through charging, which keeps the iPad Air topped off through the Smart Connector. The Magic Keyboard has several advantages over the Folio Touch, aside from the unmistakable floating design. The most significant competitors are, of course, Apple's Magic Keyboard and Smart Keyboard Folio. Since the iPad Air just hit the market, competition for keyboard cases with a trackpad is somewhat limited at the moment. I especially love that Logitech fit in a dedicated row of function keys that put all of the essentials at your fingertips. The keys are also perfectly sized for the iPad Air's compact form factor, with ample spacing in-between to prevent accident presses. Of course, the most critical factor in keyboard and trackpad cases is the keyboard and trackpad, which is where the Folio Touch shines. If I had to compare the Folio Touch's key travel with other keyboards that I use, I would put it just a little bit shallower Apple's desktop Magic Keyboard for the Mac. The keyboard on the Folio Touch offers just the right amount of key travel and provides a satisfying clicky-ness that I miss when using other iPad keyboards. The kickstand requires more space on your lap or table than the Apple.Logitech Folio Touch For Ipad Air 4 Review Keystroke (Image credit: Christopher Close / iMore) It’s unknown whether the outer skin material will potentially wear or crack at hinge lines over the years, but seems very durable when new. (the Apple does not) It has FUNCTION KEYS! (the Apple does not) You won't go wrong with this capable and, in many ways, superior alternative to Apple’s keyboardsĪfter using both the Folio Touch and Apple Magic Keyboard on an iPad Air 4 (2020) I was able to compare them side by side, and here’s what I found: Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned Make sure you get the Apple Pencil too (secondhand works, save a few bucks).įor me, I’d rather type on a Mac, scribble notes on my iPad (classes, research) and listen to podcasts on the iPhone. If all you can put money on is the iPad Air/Pro and a keyboard: THIS IS the way. If it’s gotta be Apple then this it price-wise and attachment. If you need a permanent keyboard, sketching/drawing capabilities, then buy a Surface and save some weigh t. If you’re looking for a full-time keyboard then buy a used MacBook (12-inches). If you’re just looking for a keyboard to type with on the iPad get a Bluetooth keyboard (someone has to make them). Haven’t found any settings either but also haven’t looked.ġ - Protects entire iPad EXCEPT where the pencil attaches.ĥ - Materials look/feel nice (cheap though) 4 - The damn cursor is always present on screen, even in tablet mode (keyboard folded back)ĥ - No settings in required app - Guess it acts as a driver.
